Slipper was a beautiful Yorshire Terrier that I drew in a loose style. This pet portrait was commisoned by the family for their mother to celebrate her birtday. Here is a little bit about her:
When my mother announced that we were getting a Yorshire Terrier, there was uproar.
In our minds a Yorkshire Terrier was something Elisabeth Taylor might carry around with her and not what we would call a real dog. We could not have been more wrong.
For the next nineteen years, Slipper took over our house and our hearts. She was loyal, affectionate, feisty, occasionally uppity and ever watchful. I always think of her rushing to the hallway as soon as she heard the key in the door then jumping up with excitement to give the greatest welcome home possible. She especially loved what we called her lap naps. Starting with a belly rub and then settling in for a long nap, still with an ear cocked for any unusual activity. I could go on and on about what she brought to our lives. She was some lady.
